General Information
Planning Essentials:
Here’s what a typical planning and event calendar
for a Yearbook Program might look like:

May - September
Select Program - Research publishers and programs.
 
Estimate quantities and place initial order.

October - November
Meet to determine/select committee and review publisher’s support materials.
 
Conduct pre-sale - Adjust quantity by sale amount plus extras for late sales.
 
Complete Simple Mock-up - Planned student, candid, advertising pages, etc.
 
Select Cover/Title - By committee or contest/voting by student body.
 
Decide when and how the completed books are going to be distributed.
 
Provide Updated Specifications and Distribution Schedule to publisher to receive Deadline Date for materials to be submitted for production.

November - January
Page/Content preparation - Complete most pages except for later events to be included.

February - March
Final Preparation - Complete last pages, Cover Requirements. Review/Proof all materials and copy.

March - June
Submit Copy/Materials to publisher on or before Deadline Date. (Schools that prefer Summer Production can submit in June and include year-end activities.)

May - September
Distribute books per distribution plan and conduct last minute sales.
 
Review program for items to do differently next year. Place early renewal with publisher to begin new year.
